Dog Training Classes

Outdoor Dog Training Class

Classes are coming to Naked Dog Training!

Starting in September 2024 we will start a "beta" program of dog training classes for dogs who have already completed Dog Training Fundamentals.

Understanding the Inherent Limitations to Dog Training Classes

As trainers we begin each session with a plan which includes exercises we plan on teaching or refining, and the approaches we plan to use to do so. Those plans typically change over and over and over again throughout each session. We are providing the dog with information, he or she reacts to that information and we in turn, react to their feedback. It's almost like an ongoing dance back and forth until we reach our desired outcome. We do so in a way that is perfect for this specific dog, on this specific day and in this specific training session. This continues throughout the training process.

No Change: One Approach Every Session for a Week

Let's contrast that with our dog training classes. Our classes have always involved owners bringing their dogs in for us to train in front of them. We would typically do two, 15 minute sessions with a short break in between. We would then have to choose one approach to training that the owner would use every training session for the next 7 days. We would then demonstrate that approach to the owner. Then have the owner handle their dog in front of us. We would then coach their handling to insure they are able to do their "homework" with their dog as instructed.

Imagine, one approach that is suppose to be used several times a day by their owner everyday for a week. Contrast that with the approach often changing 4, 5 even 6 times a session, every session throughout the day. Then we continue taking this approach day after day until training is completed.

Our Classes for Specialized Dog Training Programs

We will build on the foundation we've created with our Dog Training fundamentals program. That foundation is both in that dogs already understand our system, as well as owners being familiar with our training through previous handling classes.

We will offer "continuing education" classes in Aggressive Dog Training, as well as Preparing for Adventures. The training will be similar to our specialized classes offered through Board and Train and Life's an Adventure - Prepare for it! but a different curriculum.

It should be understood weekly classes can not produce the same results, and in the same period of time, as professional training daily. We can help move dogs forward in the right direction.
